13 COUNTIES

In 1983 Mrs. Becky Terry, Texas CattleWomen, Inc. President, and a group of CattleWomen approached the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) management about hosting a State Beef "Cook-Off" at the Livestock Show. Two very successful back-to-back State "Cook-Off" were hosted by the HLSR at the 1984 and 1985 Shows. After the second "Cook-Off", Peggy Jobes, Lin Adams Johnson and Sandy Scott started talking about forming a local organization in the Houston area. Through the influence and guidance of TCW past President, Becky Terry of Alpine and TCW president, Betty Huggins of Kerrville, they organized Texas Coastal Cattle Women, Inc. in 1986. As a result, these ladies graciously came to Houston to install the officers of the newly local organization, Texas Coastal Cattle Women, Inc.. TCCW is a hardworking group of ladies dedicated to informing consumers of the nutritional value of Beef and the importance of the Beef Industry and its contribution to the economy of the nation. TCCW believes in supporting youth in their education pursuit and continues this cause today.

Texas Coastal CattleWomen, Inc. has been fortunate to have the best volunteers since its inception. The following ladies have had the honor of serving as a Texas Coastal CattleWomen, Inc. President:

Sarijane Stanton ('25), Claudia Wright ('24), Mary Garbett ('22-'23), Thuy Grimes ('15-'22), Jacqui Davie ('13-'15), Lin Adams Johnson ('09-'11), Mary Bain ('07-'09), Nita Johnson ('05-'07, '11-'13), Dorothy Chesser ('03-'05), Rosemary Gambino ('01-'03), Gladys Conner  ('99-'01), Ruth Pulido ('98-'99), Kim Stegman ('96-'98), Karen Conlan ('94-'96), Cheryl Knape ('92-'94), Jo Ann Parish ('90-'92), Sandy Scott ('88-'90), Peggy Jobes ('86-'88).

Founded to support and promote the Texas beef industry, Texas Coastal CattleWomen, Inc. (TCCW) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization proudly serving 13 Gulf Coast counties and communities across Texas. As affiliates of Texas CattleWomen, Inc. (TCW- state) and American National CattleWomen (ANCW-national), we bring together individuals who share a passion for agriculture, ranching heritage, beef advocacy, and consumer education.

Owning cattle is NOT a requirement for membership

United by friendship and a commitment to service, our members work together to support the counties of Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Waller, Walker, and Wharton. Through outreach and education, we serve as ambassadors for the beef industry by providing accurate, reliable information about beef

nutrition, food safety, and the vital role agriculture plays in everyday life.

As a nonprofit organization, TCCW proudly stands alongside livestock shows, rodeos, and agricultural organizations dedicated to strengthening agricultural education and community involvement. Our mission is built upon three core pillars:

  • Consumer education and advocacy

  • Charitable outreach and community support

  • Youth scholarships and leadership development

We actively promote beef as a nutritious, high-quality food source while preserving the heritage and traditions of Texas coastal ranching communities.

Giving back to our communities remains at the heart of everything we do. TCCW partners with local food banks, children’s

homes, veterans’ facilities, and nonprofit organizations through beef donations, meal programs, and community outreach initiatives. We also support ranchers and agricultural families during times of hardship, including droughts, floods, fires, and other natural disasters affecting our region.

Investing in the future of agriculture is one of our greatest priorities. Through annual fundraisers, special events, and generous community support, TCCW awards scholarships to students pursuing degrees in agriculture, consumer sciences, and related fields. These scholarships help cultivate the next generation of agricultural leaders, advocates, and industry professionals.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, TCCW is able to accept tax-deductible donations that directly support agricultural education, charitable outreach, and scholarship opportunities for future generations.
